Let's talk about cramps

Listen, I really try to love "my time of the month," but let me tell you, she makes it SO hard! First this is kind of personal, but I know I am not the only one. So, I know working out helps prevent cramps, and I have been doing pretty okay with my working out during quarantine. Trying to get quaranthiccc, if ya know what I mean. Anyways, it's around 6pm, I'm feeling good, I'm feeling fine. So, I'm like, "Laides, let's go workout" Laides, is my beloved mother who is literally my everything. And she's like alright let's go. I'm stretching, the music is pumping, everything's great. I'm about to get this workout in. Then I start doing my first circuit of glute exercises. Towards the middle of the circuit, I feel a little tiny cramp. Kind of like a warning, letting me know, "I'm about to come take you out shorty." Praise the Lord, I make it to the end of the circuit. I'm so happy, and I soon as I start taking a sip of my water, I literally fall to the ground. Mother Nature strikes again.

I literally fall. And I feel this sharp, intense pain. I feel like I haven't had cramps this bad since the first time I got my period. My mom is like, "Honey, is everything okay?" I literally cannot speak, because I am in so much pain. I am literally just on ground curled into a ball rolling around. Literally after like 20 minutes, the pain eases up and I walk upstair to my room. My cramps are literally so cruel and vicious. Like I was literally trying to prevent them from happening, and in the middle of the process they literally come take me out. Body, why do you want me to be in pain!?! I'm trying to help the both of us! I really don't like taking medicine for pain, just because I don't. So, I do my usual remedies to solve this problem. I make some chamomile tea and I drink some lime seltzer. I put my delightful heating pad on, and I try my best to pass out.

The thing is, I just do not understand cramps. Like seriously why!? Like my body and I are on the same side. I AM ON YOUR SIDE! I eat healthy, I exercise, I try to do a little yoga here and there, and I don't drink soda, I literally do the BEST I can, and for some reason it is still never enough for you. I already have to be uncomfortable for one week, so why like a day of unbelievable pain? I just do not understand the problem. My cramps feel like there are bricks colliding in my uterus. So sorry if that is TMI, but that is what it feels like. And not little bricks, huge ones!! It's like ten bricks are trying to fit into a small space, and not only fit, but move around. Does that not sound absurd? Well I can assure you, it sounds ridiculous, but literally imagine that pain.

Another thing that is annoying about this whole situation is I lose a day of productivity. I mean it's cool, because it's an excuse on why I didn't accomplish anything, but still. I literally just lay in my bed praying and begging God to please relieve me of this pain. Asking for forgiveness for all of the sins that I may have committed that must be the reason I am going through this excruciating pain. Then the bricks settle for a little bit, there is still pain just less, and I can watch some television. What makes the whole thing worse is the fact that I am craving all the sweets in the world. And my mother always says, "You have these cramps because you've been eating too much sweets." This is probably false information, but still for some reason I think it might have some truth to it. So, I don't have any sweets while on my period. And truthfully, I don't even like sweets. Like I have to crave ice cream, brownies, chocolate, and all of the gooey sweet dishes the world has to offer. The only sweet thing I can eat at anytime are gummies. They are my favorite and very guilty pleasure.

So back to how these cramps went, ummm I eventually had to cave and use some Motrin. The home remedies kind of work, but literally the pain I was feeling was unreal. Any-who, I just had to rant about this whole thing. I just don't know why my body and I can't be on the same side ALL the time. If you have any other home remedies that work magic to cramps, please comment below. As always, thank you for your time.

xoxo
